Black t-shirt printing with Ink Jet Dark transfer Paper and sublimation inks!

One day i received phone call from xpres sales rep. Lovely guy.
We had a short conversation about weather and other none important stuff. Than he asked me if I use heat transfer paper for printing tee shirts. well, No, as I have eco-solvent printer (ROLAND BN-20) so not really need for heat transfer papers. I am not big fan of them any way as they remind me those cheap and nasty transfers that my Mum use to iron-on when I was a kid 🙂

I told him that I don’t even own a printer that would be suitable to use it with this paper so not really interested. “You can use your sublimation set up with this product Paul…” he said!!! And here he got me 🙂
He offered me free sample pack to try. So here I am 🙂
I am testing this Jet Dark transfer paper to see if this is something “new” or same product, with just different marketing.

Please see video to see how it cut and prints on the t-shirt

After using this product I must admit that i am very surprised. It prints very well with sublimation inks. Colours pops out once printed so print is not dull at all.

Paper feel more like heat press vinyl than standard paper. I would say, it is more like media I use with my Roland BN-20. its very strong and little bit stretchy. Very easy to cut and apply.

in one word, it’s great piece of media!

All I need to do is test it in the washing machine and see how it performs.

Paul, I would think a mask application would work better than peeling the transfer from the backing. ( I print transfers on printable htv with my eco solvent printer ) and always have a mask application to pull off from the backing. Did they say you didn’t need one ?

      HI Jaye,
I agree. I always use mask. but this is inkjet transfer paper and it also can be used without mask. I agree, that if there are loose elements on artwork then masking is essential.
      All the best!
