Hey Sub Geek!

In this video, I show you how to quickly design a sublimation mug template with cool effects called “Image in Text.” You can use this technique in many different sublimation designs.

When I started sublimation, one of my main issues was what design do I put on my sublimation blanks? I did buy a few pre-made designs and sometimes still do, but they might not be the exact color I want or have wrong wording and font. There might be copyright issues to deal with and that’s a hassle, especially if you plan on selling the items you print. If you make your own designs it will be the color you want, the wording will be just right, and you can use endless amount of fonts!

Of course, you’re probably thinking, “Yeah, Barb, that’s easy for a designer to say. But it doesn’t make much sense to spend hours trying to blindly learn a design program like Photoshop.” I had this same thought: I can be creative, but far from a designer. Luckily, I found a program which is like the mini version of Photoshop called Photoshop Elements* which is MUCH easier than regular Photoshop. It’s much easier to learn and gets the job done! Perfect for beginners in sublimation and design.

PSE is perfect for sublimation beginners and has what you need to get started with making your own sublimation designs. Also, the skills you learn in Photoshop Elements are transferable to regular Photoshop, so if you ever do want to use what the professionals are using, you’ll have a great foundation. Make sure you get PS Elements 2015 and above because its has Smart Objects and that great tool to have in resizing photos and not losing resolution.

Another benefit for Photoshop Elements is that it is affordable ONLY ONE Time Purchase NO monthly subscriptions!! YAY!

This video is the first of a two part series. Here, I focus on putting an Image in Text for mug template. In the next video, I show you how to add some clip art to make the design even better.

The great thing is all these techniques I show you can be used in so many other Sublimation design templates.

*Please note, I am not affiliated with Photoshop Elements, so I don’t benefit from anyone purchasing that program.
